The due date came and went. So I decided we should get induced. Best decision ever. We were able to plan ahead and have the whole family here with us. We woke up very early, with very little sleep and drove to the hospital. We got admitted and went to our room. I was already 3cm dilated. I got my epidural. Best thing ever invented. I couldn't feel any pain at all. Josh and I watched an episode of 24 and enjoyed spending time together. I told the family not to come for a couple of hours. The nurse checked me after about an hour and a half and I was already 9 cm. We prepared to push. The baby's head was so low we all thought it would only take a few pushes and it would be out. So we told all the family to hurry and get there. My mom was at Walmart getting her hair cut. So she was able to have the experience of "oh my gosh, it's time, we gotta go." Unfortunately, I had to push for almost 2 hours. It was VERY hard work. About an hour in, I started feeling pretty bad back labor. So the nurse tapped off my epidural. Then I really couldn't feel anything. I couldn't even feel if I was pushing or not. Finally the doctor came in and said the baby is just not wanting to come through my pelvic bone. Either I could continue pushing or we could vacuum it out. I tried pushing a few more times but I was DONE! We decided to vacuum it out. This only took about 4 pushes. All day the doctor and nurse said the baby was a boy because of the heart rate. I was for sure it was a boy. But deep down I had always wanted a girl. Then she popped out. I cried uncontrollably. Josh cried. It was literally the best minute of my life. I couldn't believe I had a little girl. She was just perfect. Josh was awesome during the whole birth. He was PERFECT!! Then we had the whole family come in and guess whether she was a boy or girl. Only my mom said girl. They were just thrilled and emotional about her. We introduced Emma Jean Long to her new family.
